Curriculum Nuno José R. Avelar

 

Nuno José Rodrigues Avelar was born in Torres Vedras in 1983. 

Academic Experience: 

Technical course of Equine Administration, ended in 2001 in the Professional School Stud of Alter do Chão, with 15 values.  

Course of Monitor of Horsemanship of the Portuguese Equestrian Federation, ended at the Professional School Stud of Alter do Chão, with good results.  

From 1999 to 2004 he mounted and worked with the Horseman Bento Castelhano (individual Two-time Champion, Five-time Champion by teams in the Europe Championship of Horsemanship of Work and Champion of the World of Horsemanship of Work, as trainer). 

In the period in that he lived in the United States had lessons with George Williams (Horseman of the Teams Olympic American of Dressage and recently vice-president of the Equestrian Federation of the United States) and with Christopher Hikey (winner of last Pan American Games and candidate to member of the Team Olympic American of Dressage). 

After returning of the United States and in the period that he worked in the Coudelaria Alentejana had daily lessons with the Horseman Bento Castelhano or with Master João Lopes Aleixo. 

Professional Experience: 

It began his professional activity in a Stud of Lusitanos, in Boston, United States of America, in the School of Horsemanship - New Gait Manor, where he exercised the positions of technical responsible and e horsemanship.  

Turning to Portugal, he went to work for Home of Francisco Bessa Carvalho (Breeder, Judge of the Lusitana Breed and one of the main Horsemen of the Portuguese School of Equestrian Art). In that time he worked their horses and he gave equestrian lessons in Francisco’s school, in Caneças. 

Later, and after invitation, he went to work for the acquaintance Coudelaria Ferraz da Costa, where he settled down during four and a half years as responsible for the horse production, skive, sell, presentation, selection and all kind of works of a great stud farm.   

Currently, he works in Malveira, in his personal project, the Coudelaria Nuno Avelar, that is located in his grandfather's land, José Rodrigues, where it can receive horses for permanence, teaching and presentation, also giving horsemanship classes.  

Nuno is considered very impassioned by the profession and determined in dignifying the equestrian art in Portugal.
